Bovey Trophies uses the sandblasting process to personalize natural elements such as glass, crystal, marble or stone.

Sandblasting (also referred to as sandetching) is a method of personalizing glass, crystal, marble or stone. The time tested process has been used for decades in the decorative and architectural industries. Stencils began with designing, tracing, and then hand cutting or machine plotting in order to produce the desired image. In 1980, the photoresist technology was introduced allowing for stencils to be photographically reproduced instead of manually which revolutionized the sandblasting industry.

A special mask is applied and then an abrasive is blasted onto the surface. The abrasive removes the surface only in the open areas of the mask. The result is the impression on the surface cleanly follows the pattern of the stencil. The process of photographically reproduced stencils allows for finer details and has become the premier way to personalize glass, crystal marble or stone.
